Best Buy To Bring You Brammo and More

Best Buy is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about environmentally-focused, eco-forward thinking businesses, with they’re massive stores, big box style and offerings that are all electronic (the power guzzlers, energy drainers, and un-recyclables of the consumer world); but lately they’ve been taking some rather exciting steps in the right direction.
A couple months back they expanded their electronics recycling program to be available in all of Best Buy’s 1,006 stores nationwide. The program enables Best Buy customers—and everyone else—to bring in up to two electronics per day for recycling, including things like laptops, phones and remotes. Although there limitations (some televisions, items with Freon, microwaves and appliances) and a $10 recycling fee for items with screen (you’ll get a $10 Best Buy gift card in return), the program makes it easier for consumers to recycle electronics and less likely to toss their old items into the trash.
Now, Best Buy has announced that they’ll soon be selling the Brammo Enertia Electric Motorcycle at five Best Buy locations on the West Coast. The Brammo gets up to 45 miles per charge and was designed to help push people from petroleum to sustainable transportation while evolving the motorcycle industry, which is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions that rival and exceed those of traditional cars and light trucks. Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher sees the Brammo as being closer to Best Buy’s current range of consumer electronics than to traditional transportation vehicles, and maintenance on the Brammos will even be completed by the Geek Squad (those uniformed techies at Best Buy). The electric motorcycles are expected to be available at more Best Buys in time.
On top of this latest news about the Brammo, there’s a rumor that Best Buy won’t just be carrying the Brammo Electric Motorcycle, but a full range of “electric-powered personal transportation products”. Sounds interesting….could they be considering picking up the P.U.M.A. from Segway?

You have your CEOs mixed up. Bramscher is the CEO of Brammo. Best Buy’s CEO is Brad Anderson, at least until next month.

I waited for several years to watch BB deep 6 Circuit City…good job! So, I believe in BB and will follow their choices. Right now their either visionaries or just like getting the new toys to play with before anyone else. Boys love their toys. Hopefully, the Enertia bike is fully baked and ready to withstand the demands of a very demanding consumer. Good to have an American company take the lead…all the best for Brammo.

I am really excited to see how the Brammo Enertia Motorcycle takes off at Best Buy. I should give the Cycle some great exposure as well as Brammo the company.
