Celebrities Gone Green: Alicia Silverstone Touches Up with EcoTools

When it comes to the environment, Alicia Silverstone is anything but clueless—she’s a bona fide green gal who’s truly excited about the earth, and one of the biggest steps she advocates taking as you go green is switching to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. Regardless of whether it’s something you’d adopt full time or not, the reality is that the facts do back her up—a vegetarian diet is much easier on the planet in a range of ways, from water conservation to saving the rainforest. Silverstone’s even got a vegan cookbook (titled The Kind Diet) underway and it will be debuting in the fall.

Her latest partnership, however, is about fabulous makeup instead of food. Silverstone has partnered with eco-friendly makeup tools line EcoTools to create her own green makeup bags and brushes, which will be available for purchase in December. The bags, which range from tiny to giant travel size, are made from hemp and recycled PET plastic, and printed with soy-ink images of Silverstone’s favorite flowers. The brushes, like all of those in the EcoTools line, are made from bamboo handles with recycle aluminum detailing and synthetic bristles.

The EcoTools line—an offshoot of cosmetics company Paris Presents—is already a favorite with celebrities, with Courtney Cox, Mariska Hargitary, and Olivia Wilde all rumored to be big fans. You’ll likely love them equally if you want to avoid the use of animal products in your beauty routine or if you’re simply looking for high quality makeup brushes that will get you perfectly dolled up (in eco-friendly cosmetics, of course!).
