Sweet and Sara Marshmallows: All the Fluff, None of the Yucky Stuff

sweet-and-sara-marshmallows

Many people assume marshmallows are vegetarian, but the reality is that marshmallows do have meat products in them (due to the gelatin that comprises the cloud-like confections), and it’s only been in recent years that there’s  even been a vegan marshmallow available. The search for a vegan marshmallow was even part of a scandal story that made news headlines in 2007 (you can check out the sticky situation here).

Even if you’re not a vegetarian, most of the marshmallows available on the shelves at your local grocery store contain other undesirable ingredients like artificial flavors and colors, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up all the fun and tastiness of the puffy treats. Sweet & Sara Marshmallows are 100% vegan (with the lab tests to prove it) and offer up everything you’d want in a marshmallow: Pillowy texture, sugary flavour, and major melting possibilities—they’ve even received rave reviews from Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray.

Based on the vegan marshmallow formula that took Sweet & Sara founder Sara Sohn years to perfect, the Sweet & Sara marshmallows come in a variety of flavors, including Toasted Coconut, Strawberry and Cinnamon Pecan. And, of course, the classic Vanilla, which is right at home in a s’more or a steaming cup of hot chocolate. Stock up on a container of Sweet & Sara Marshmallows for the Christmas season and you can make fire side evenings more fun well into January (the vegan marshmallows have a 12-week shelf life when kept in the fridge).
