Holden Sparrow Jacket Warms You Not the Earth

Holden Sparrow Jacket

Guys, if there’s a jacket you should buy for fall/winter, the Holden Sparrow Jacket is it. For one thing, an eco-friendly jacket isn’t the easiest thing to find–well, not if you want one that’s going to hold up to rain, sleet, snow and the other perils of wintery weather. Nylon and polyester–two very common jacket materials–are, when it comes down to it, petroleum based and require a lot of chemicals (not to mention greenhouse gases) during their production, even if some argue that they use less energy in their upkeep. The fact is, this is an area where you can’t really compromise on what you’re looking for in the product; it’s just impractical and unpleasant to trek around cold. With the Sparrow jacket you don’t have to compromise your internal body temperature or your green code of conduct.

This is thanks largely to a pretty groundbreaking hemp-fiber outerwear that Holden released two years ago. The fabric highly waterproof and easier on the environment. This year, they’ve taken it further by improving the texture and waterproof capabilities of the hemp fibere, as well as adding to the steps they take for green production. And they’re using Cocona, a coconut-shell based fabric with evaporative cooling, odor absorption and UV protection properties, in many of their products.

And how does this hemp/coconut creation look? Better than the majority of outerwear you’ll see this year. Charcoal gray with a broad collar and button detailing up the front and on the shoulder, the Sparrow can easily take you from casual day outside to a “green date night” without missing a beat.
