When Jessica Alba commited to getting environmentally friendly for the sake of her then unborn daughter, Honor Marie, she received a lot of attention and praise for the decision. Now, with a eco-conscious home renovation complete, she’s proven that it wasn’t just talk and she’s walking the eco-walk. Alba recently opened up her home to InStyle and the photos show a house that is not only gorgeous but green.
Most of the furnishings are second hand, with her designer, Kari Whitman, not only praising the eco-friendliness of the items but also the quality craftsmanship on older pieces. They opted for sustainable wood flooring and rugs instead of often-toxic carpeting and chose renewable materials like bamboo, cork and jute. They even bought artificial turf made from recycled plastic and tires for the lawn (to cut down on water consumption and avoid pesticides). InStyle came up with a list of the celeb couples it considers to be the most eco-friendly, from buying organic cotton clothing to making green home renovations like installing solar panels and water purification systems.

Cash Warren are determined to raise their
newborn daughter in a green household. Not only has Alba stocked up on organic-cotton onesies, she’s also doing eco-friendly renovations on the new family’s home. “I would like to see a cleaner earth for my child,” Alba said recently.
Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere
Onset romancers Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia have more than just their leading roles on Heroes in common. Both stars are staunch vegetarians and Panettiere recently risked arrest to protest the killing of dolphins in Japan. As a result, Ventimiglia watched the petite actress get honored by the Humane Society with their Gretchen Wyler Award for activism.
Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton
Aussie actress Cate Blanchett and her playwright husband,
Andrew Uptown were hired as Creative Directors of the Sydney Theatre Company, but they are determined to change the organization inside and out. The
parents of three recently pledged to use solar panels and gathered rainwater in order to take the building off the grid. And they practice what they preach at home—their Sydney mansion recently underwent an extensive greenification.
Adrien Grenier and Isabel Lucas
Entourage heartthrob Adrien Grenier and girlfriend Isabel Lucas are a match made in hippie heaven. The actress has joined Hayden Panettiere in the movement to save the whales, while Grenier has spoken out in support of everything from eco-friendly building (his Brooklyn home is equipped with solar panels) to alternative energy sources to vintage clothes recycling. The couple both star in Grenier’s Alter Eco show on the Planet Green network.
Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry
New parents Halle Berry and Calvin Klein model boyfriend
Gabriel Aubry are raising a green baby! Berry spent a reported $60,000 on her environmentally-friendly nurseries which she stocked with organic cotton baby clothes.
