Because of the diverse microclimates in a relatively area, there is an extreme diversity of nectar-producing flowers on the slopes of Mt. Tamalpais. This diversity creates honey that is Spicy, Sweet, Complex, Dark Amber and incredibly delicious. The Mt. Tam hives qualify for "Organic" registration because medication is never used within these hives. Also, these hives are in wild, natural, undeveloped locations where there is at least a four mile area of untainted land where the bees forage for the sweet nectars that become Organic Mt. Tam Wildflower Honey. Mount Tamalpais is a peak in Marin County, California. The Miwoks who lived in the Bay Area for over 5,000 years are thought to have revered the mountain as a sacred site. Informal history of Mount Tam refers to it as a "sleeping lady", as the peak's silhouette resembles the outline of a woman asleep on her back.
