There's a reason eco-aware people are fans of fans; they're much better for the environment than air conditioners, look better in your home, and cost a lot less than air conditioners. As with most electronic appliances, the most important thing to look for when you're buying an eco-friendly fan is Energy Star certification. Energy Star certification is an easy way to tell which fans are going to use less energy (and cost you less each month). A true eco-friendly fan also includes a light source (where you can install a CFL bulb) and can save you money every year over separate conventional fans and lights. To take the idea of an eco-friendly fan to the max, opt for one with Energy Star certification, a light attachment, and blades made of a more sustainable material, like bamboo. You'll find more than a few below.
