Air pollution
Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, and biological materials into the atmosphere, which causes harm or discomfort to humans and other living organisms. These problems are traditionally identified with major stationary sources (power plants, smokestacks), but the greatest sources of emissions are mobile, mainly automobiles.

Alternative energy
Energy derived from sources other than conventional fossil-fuels is called alternative energy. This energy is derived from wind, sun, biomass, waves, and tides, and has little or no adverse impact on the environment. Alternative energy can be used as a substitute for non-renewable energy.

Alternative fuels
Alternative fuels are any materials or substances that can be used as a fuel, apart from the conventional fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal, and propane. Alternative fuels may have particularly desirable energy-efficient and pollution-reducing features. Alternative fuels include biodiesel, bioalcohol (ethanol, methanol), chemically stored electricity, hydrogen, non-fossil methane, non-fossil natural gas, vegetable oil, and other biomass sources. Several emerging fuels, also considered to be alternative fuels, are currently under development. Some of these fuels are Coal to Liquids (CTL), Fischer-Tropsch Diesel, Gas to Liquids (GTL), P-Series, and Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel.
