Hydroelectric energy
Hydroelectric energy is a renewable energy source dependent upon the hydrologic cycle of water. It involves evaporation, precipitation, and the flow of water due to gravity. It does not produce waste and carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas. Hydroelectric power comes from the potential energy of dammed water driving a water turbine and generator. This can, however, have a negative impact on local ecosystems.
