I wanted to depict the phoenix in the context of nature so I transformed motorcycle chains and spoons into the bird's body and plumage says Miguel Mejia as he describes the content of this wall art sculpture. I used the rocker arm from a carburetor for the head spark plugs for the flower and butterfly and bearings for its wings as well as the clouds.

Auto parts sculpture, 'Gallant Knight'

A gallant knight of recycled metal armor charges through time with lance and shield at hand. Peru's Miguel Mejia sculpts this masterpiece from motorcycle parts and scrap metal astutely transforming them into a vivid sculpture. I made the horse from several pipes which I joined to the legs with bolts; a motorbike chain became the neck and a rocker arm from a carburetor the head and jowls. I used a nut for the mouth the handle of a spoon for the horse's helmet five wires for the tail and metal sheets and bicycle chain for the cloak Mejia explains. For the knight's body I used a nail from a clutch as well as bolts and I made the head arms and legs from different nuts. The helmet is shaped from metal sheet the shoulders and wrists from spools. The removable lance comes from a long bolt and metal sheets and the shield features a chain. The stand which features my signature is made from motorcycle chains and metal sheet.

A mighty battle is about to ensue between fantastical armies composed of recycled metal parts. Armando Ramirez creates an admirable chess set as he transforms an assortment of parts into two proud legions. Spark plugs become towers whereas sprockets form the base of each rugged piece. The horses' manes are made from galvanized wire and their bases are taken from a car's ignition. The same ignition components are used to make the base for the queen and king and her majesty's legs are made from parts of a car's electric system. The king's cross is made from nails. Please note it is the artist's intention no to give his sculptures a fine polished finish therefore smudges and scratches may be present.

Transforming them into sculptures he creates a wonderfully original nativity scene. Mary Joseph and the angel are fashioned of metal plate and spark plugs. Another spark plug rests in a manger of connecting rods from a car motor lined with galvanized wire. Balance beams washers and wire become cows that kneel before the Christ child. Melchior rides a horse both figures made from a transmission chain wire metal sheets a spring and a spark plug. Riding a camel Balthazar and his mount use a balance beam a rocker arm spark plug washers cogs and wire. Tubes a half sphere spark plug balance beam metal bits left from a die cutter and wire become Caspar and his elephant. Auto parts sculpture, 'Rustic Film Projector'

Armando Ramirez revisits the golden age of film with this classic film projector built from various auto parts and pieces of scrap metal. The pinewood handle is recycled from a nixtamal grounding mill used for preparing tortilla dough. Spark plugs a pulley from a toy train engine and the chain and wheel of a motorcycle begin to shape the projector. Several auto parts complete it such as the ignition wheel of a car the foot and diaphragm of the clutch pedal and a bearing from the electrical system. Most reclaimed lumber comes from timbers and decking rescued from old barns, factories and warehouses and some companies have been known to source wood from less traditional structures such as boxcars, coal mines, and wine barrels.
Recycling is the reprocessing of old materials into new products, with the aims of preventing the waste of potentially useful materials, reducing the consumption of fresh raw materials, reducing energy usage, reducing air (from incineration) and water (from landfilling) pollution by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production.
Jute is a long, soft, shiny vegetable fiber that can be spun into coarse, strong threads. It is produced from plants in the genus Corchorus, family Tiliaceae. It is one of the cheapest natural fibers and is second only to cotton in amount produced and variety of uses. Jute fiber is 100% biodegradable and recyclable and thus environmentally friendly.
