Organic CottonOrganic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production.
Formaldehyde is known to have a number of negative health effects, including immune-system toxicity, respiratory irritation and cancer in humans. However, it still turns up in baby bath soap, nail polish, eyelash adhesive and hair dyes as a contaminant or break-down product.
Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers.
