Saa paper parasol, 'Forest Explosion'

Moon star and dolphin motifs painted in oils jump out from a batik-like background of dappled blue and green. The tradition of saa paper dates back two hundred years ago. Nikom makes use of locally available saa paper to create his parasols. They are further embellished with bamboo spines and hand-painted with intricate designs. Hang the parasol from the ceiling to add a touch of Thailand to any decor or use it to accessorize cheerful afternoon attire and block the heat of the sun as in its traditional use.
