VW Jetta

The time for eco-friendly cars is now and the new 2009 clean diesel VW Jetta TDI is the envy of all “green” cars. Competing against the BMW 335d and Ford Fusion Hybrid, the Jetta TDI came away with the 2009 Green Car of the Year award, becoming the first diesel car to win the award. This powerful yet efficient machine achieved emissions certification in all fifty states (even California stringent standards) on its way to the award. Ultimately, in a time when the mpg’s of a car are becoming ever more important, the 2009 VW Jetta TDI takes the gold.

PROS:

There is much to be said about this award-winning machine. Surprisingly, the Jetta gives up very little in the area of power for its efficiency. It is powered by a 2-liter engine giving the driver 140 horsepower and 236 cubic feet of torque, more than enough to zip down the highway. Competing with most efficient electric cars today, the Jetta TDI gets an astonishing 41 miles to the gallon combined city and highway. And again, you cannot overestimate benefits for the environment with greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Most appealing to the consumer will likely be the relatively low price-tag of this wonder machine. The Jetta TDI is priced at just under $22,000, but it will save you money on gas for many years to come.

CONS:

The downsides of the 2009 VW Jetta TDI are few and far between. There are three main complaints surface surrounding the Jetta. Initially, consumers complain that there is not much room inside the car. The reliability record and dealer service of Volkswagen has also been called into question. Lastly, some consumers insist that they have trouble finding biodiesel to fill up their tank. Nevertheless, the critically acclaimed 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI truly lives up to its name as a car of the people, and very much so of the environment.
